Joe Phalen entered the mortgage industry as a Loan Originator, a title he held for many years. During this time, he helped form the processing and selling model known as POD Flow. For nine consecutive years, Joe’s annual fundings exceeded $100M, leading to promotions to Director of Business Development and Divisional Sales Manager. Joe oversaw business development for both Compass Mortgage and Guaranteed Rate Affinity.

In 2020, Joe began a passion project with Gregory Boxing to support veterans, first responders, and the community, creating a non-contact training platform which includes athletes with Parkinson’s disease.

Joe joined Symmetry Lending in 2022 as the Managing Director of HELOCs and believes Symmetry has one of the best HELOC options in the mortgage space. After spending 30-plus years in retail mortgage lending, he appreciates that Symmetry cares most about service and the ability to build long-standing relationships with independent mortgage brokers.
